Well Furlong Title
We are Gaynor and Mike Duffy, "Well Furlong" is the name of our site. Our main interests are 20th Century British Art and Theatre respectively, and the site is devoted to these two subjects.
The site has been designed to use DHTML techniques for JavaScript 'mouseover' links. This means that these pages will look best with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 or higher.

Try our search facility in the navigation bar to the left of most screens, provided by Atomz.com. This may help you to find what you're looking for on our site.

20th Century British Art   British Theatre
Gaynor has been influenced by such painters as Francis Bacon and W R Sickert, and some of the results of her research into these artists may be read in these pages. You may also read about the life and work of Lucian Freud OM and Maggi Hambling OBE.

Gaynor has always been a keen photographer. You may like to see some of her photographs in this new album.

Shakespeare wrote many of his greatest plays for the original Globe playhouse, the birthplace of British theatre.
Mike is a regular playgoer at Shakespeare's Globe reconstructed on London's Bankside. The 2010 season is now well underway.

The modern playwrights Mike writes about are Harold Pinter whose death was announced on Christmas Day 2008, Sir Tom Stoppard OM whom we met at a book signing in October 2004, and Samuel Beckett whose 100th birthday was celebrated on 13th April 2006.
Alan Bennett should really be here too - a future project I'm afraid. Sadly Simon Gray another leading British playwright died on 7th August 2008.  I /we enjoyed many of his plays from Butley in 1971 to Old Masters in 2004.
